On Thursday morning, authorities found a 67-year-old motorcyclist dead in an accident involving an SUV in Cicero, New York. According to Thomas Newton, spokesman for the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, Steven Burgwin, a Cicero resident, passed away from his injuries approximately at 9 a.m. when his motorbike impacted the SUV on South Bay Road, close to Whiting Road.
Newton claimed that the motorcycle collided with the SUV, which was approaching from the other side, while Burgwin was northbound on South Bay Road. Burgwin was declared dead at the site even though the rescue services reacted quickly.
The sheriff’s office has not revealed the SUV driver’s name, suggesting that should citations be made, more information could be revealed. According to Newton, the inquiry into the events surrounding the accident is still under way and no tickets have been issued to the SUV driver as of yet.
Following the crash, Whiting Road and South Bay Road were blocked temporarily to enable the investigation and guarantee public safety.
