The local medical authorities have made the formal identification of the motorcyclist who died in a collision earlier this week in Otay Mesa. Twenty-year-old Jose Angel Ruan Lopez passed away in the incident on Enrico Fermi Drive, northbound, just north of Otay Mesa Road, according the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s office.

The California Highway Patrol reports that Ruan Lopez, riding a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle, collided with a yellow box truck immobilised and parked along the eastern curb for reasons still under investigation at about 4:40 a.m. on Monday. Ruan Lopez was thrown off the motorbike and onto the road, where he suffered major injuries. At the spot he was declared dead.

Authorities closed Enrico Fermi Drive’s northbound lane in reaction to the accident in order to enable an inquiry into the events surrounding it. Anyone who might have seen the incident should appeal to the California Highway Patrol to come forward and offer information. Those with specifics should get in touch at 858-293-6000 the CHP San Diego Area.

The community is deeply affected by the sad death of Jose Angel Ruan Lopez; tributes are being paid as friends and relatives remember his life during this trying period. Updates as the inquiry goes on will be given as well.
