Searching for 43-year-old Kenneth “Kenny Bo” Walters from Moselle has turned out tragically. Following more than a month of uncertainty, Walters’ remains turned out to be in Forrest County. The find was made in the Dixie Community on a remote dirt road close to Elks Lake.

An employee from a nearby dirt-pit enterprise saw the red 1999 Dodge Dakota pickup and quickly reported it to authorities. Local authorities rushed to the location, and later confirmation of the remains’ identification came from Statements from Forrest County Coroner Lisa Klem point to no evidence of foul play.

As reported in a public appeal by the Jones County Sheriff’s Department, Walters vanished first on Wednesday, August 28 and last seen at Keith’s convenience store in Moselle. The sighting represented the final known interaction prior to the sad finding in Forrest County.

Family, friends, and the community clung to hope for weeks while exchanging information and looking for any clue of his location. Although the circumstances surrounding his disappearance leave many with unresolved doubts, those worried about his safety find some solace in the absence of foul play.

The local community, where Walters was a familiar character, has been rocked by word of his passing. Renowned for his friendliness, his early passing leaves a great loss among all those who knew him.

Although authorities are still working to put together the chronology up to his last moments, no more specifics have been published. The community is advised to respect the privacy of people who are grieving and give healing room.

As family members and friends negotiate the loss of a man recognised for his integrity and compassion, efforts to honour Walters’ memory and support his loved ones never stop. Joined in recollection and compassion, the towns of Jones County and Forrest County also grieve.
