David Odell, a 63-year-old resident of Eight Mile, tragically lost his life in a single-vehicle accident on Thursday afternoon, as reported by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA). Odell was driving a 2024 Freightliner dump truck when the vehicle veered off the roadway and overturned.
The accident occurred on Atmosphere Road, near Poarch Road, approximately six miles north of Atmore in Escambia County. ALEA officials confirmed that Odell was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, which ultimately led to his death. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
