Kelly Lea Stone, 64, of Paris, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her home at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. Kelly dedicated much of her life to helping others, working for several years as an LPN at Paris Healthcare Center and later as a Teacher’s Aide at Crestwood School.
Born on April 25, 1960, in Terre Haute, Indiana, Kelly was the daughter of Robert Edwin and Irma (Rinesmith) Laughlin. On September 13, 1978, she married William M. “Bill” Stone in Paris, and together they built a beautiful family. Kelly is survived by her husband, Bill; her mother, Irma Laughlin of Paris; and her four sons: Andrew (Laura) Stone of Smyrna, Georgia, Jonathan (Amy) Stone of Carterville, Illinois, Phylip Stone of Howell, Michigan, and David Mitchell (Kendra) Stone of Marshall, Illinois. She also leaves behind three brothers, Terry Laughlin of Carmel, Indiana, Kent Laughlin of Paris, and Keith Laughlin of Kansas City, Missouri; a sister, Tina Laughlin of Paris; six grandchildren: Trysten, Kloie, Ella, Teddy, Paytyn, and Georgia Stone; a great-granddaughter, Gwenavien; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Edwin Laughlin.
Kelly was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished her family above all. She found joy in the little things—like sipping a cold Pepsi and cheering on her favorite teams, the Steelers and Cardinals. She also had a special fondness for collecting owls.
In her memory, the family suggests donations be made to the ECCF D.O. It Cancer Support Group or the Edgar County Shrine Club.
A service celebrating Kelly’s life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Templeton Funeral Home, officiated by Bro. Kurt Speece. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be private at a later date.
