Jonathan Nichol of St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, has died unexpectedly. At the age of 30, Jonathan Nichol, better known as drag performer Reign Michaels, passed away. After years on George Street, including winning the 2023 Drag on George event and hosting it in 2024, Reign became well-known to the drag scene.
The family has a Go-Fund-Me website, and throughout the course of the weekend, thousands of dollars have been raised. A tribute to Reign Michaels is set for Friday at the Velvet on Water Street. The artist went away on Sunday.
