Death; Todd Clarke Renfrew, ON, Lumber Kings former assistant coach died after battling cancer

Todd Clarke of Renfrew, Ontario, has sadly died.  After a protracted fight with cancer, a significant role in minor and junior hockey in the Ottawa Valley passed away. The news of his death have so many hearts completely herat broken and shattered. After passing away over the weekend, Todd Clarke, a former assistant coach with the Pembroke Lumber Kings and Renfrew Wolves, is being honored. His funeral plans and obituary will be announced by his family at a time of their choosing.

Clarke’s love of the game “left a lasting impact not only on our team but also on countless junior hockey players across the valley and beyond,” according to a statement from the Wolves. “Those who had the honor of knowing him will cherish and remember his influence as a mentor and friend,” they continue.

Ryan Leonard, the former head coach of the Wolves, worked with Clarke for a few seasons and says the two developed a bond that he will always treasure. Leonard says he’s realized he’s met a true warrior in Clarke, saying that “watching him go through this process the last three years, we lived it with him as he toughed it out to continue coaching and living life to the fullest.”

The Pembroke Lumber Kings and Renfrew Minor Hockey Association have also sent their condolences, stating that the community will be grieving the loss of a wonderful person, husband, father, and friend in addition to a devoted coach.
