The news of the death of a very esteemed member of the Larne Motor Club, a reliable friend, and a committed life member broke with great sadness this morning. An important member of the society, Seamus Murphy left an enduring influence that will never be forgotten by always supporting and encouraging everyone who came into touch with the club.

Celebrated for great talent and enthusiasm, his contributions to the sport were simply remarkable. Strong rivals in Rallycross, Sprints, and the famous Cairncastle Hill Climb, colleagues and fans both regularly praised the attitude and commitment shown. Every performance gave the track vitality and enthusiasm, therefore defining every race and capturing the essence of motorsports.

Beyond the skill he displayed on the course, there was a presence that went much beyond the contests, a mentor, a source of support, and a guiding hand for newbies as well as seasoned racers. “Sad news to wake up to this morning, life member, friend and the well respected Seamus Murphy has passed away today. He was a huge support to us all within Larne Motor Club. Seamus was a fantastic competitor in Rallycross, Sprints and Cairncastle Hill Climb where he was always fantastic to watch. Our condolences go out to all the Murphy family. Rest in peace Seamus.”
