Kenneth D. Swartzentruber, of Fleetwood, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, in Ruscombmanor Township, PA. He was 18 years old.
Kenneth was a senior at the Berks Career & Technology Centre in Oley and Lighthouse Christian Academy in Lyons. Kenneth was a member of New Life Bible Fellowship in Oley, PA, and Pine Grove Community Church in Pine Grove, PA. He was also employed as a server at Bear Creek Mountain Resort, where he was recognised as the employee of the month in January.
Kenneth was a Cabinetry & Wood Technology student at the Berks Career and Technology Centre who possessed exceptional skills. Kenneth was a member of the student-built house project team at BCTC, a member of the Restoring Hope of Berks County home renovations team, and would provide assistance with live-work projects for the program. Kenneth was an officer and a competitor in the SkillsUSA student organisation. Kenneth was also a Student Ambassador for the school and a member of the National Technical Honour Society. Kenneth was a remarkable young man and student who exemplified leadership and offered mentorship to his peers.
Kenneth was a young man who was genuinely gifted and was guided by his faith in his love and care for others. This faith was most clearly demonstrated in his own words when he addressed God with the following request: “Assist me in prioritising the well-being of others and yourself, while putting myself last.” Please assist me in loving others in the same way that you would.
Kenneth was fervently enthusiastic about life. He was an avid competitor who derived pleasure from playing ping pong, soccer, volleyball and basketball. He achieved the top spot in the ACE Mid-Atlantic Regional Competition for ping pong for three consecutive years. Kenneth was a devoted companion and family member, and he also had a passion for music, playing the flute and piano.
