As word of Firefighter EMT Andrew Koldeway’s dying from complications following an unexpected medical condition spreads, sincere sympathies are expressed. Andrew left a major influence on colleagues and the community when he joined CRFD in February 2023 bringing over two decades of committed service and experience to his post.

When considering the death, Fire Chief Norris Croom showed great empathy saying, “This is an immeasurable tragedy for family, friends, and fellow responders as they confront this unexpected loss.”

Once decided upon, specifics about the upcoming service will be shared. CRFD will provide direction on how the public can honour Andrew’s memory and help those left behind by means of assistance or donations in the next days.

First of importance is honouring the family’s need for privacy at this time of loss. When necessary, further updates will be shared so that the community may honour and show support.

Having spent twenty-one years in the fire department, Andrew shown in every endeavour dedication, bravery, and friendship. Every person who had the honour of working with him was permanently changed by his presence and professionalism, which enhanced the department.

Andrew’s legacy is valued not only for his commitment as a fireman and EMT but also for the great humanity and decency he gave to every call of duty as accolades flow in. Though they negotiate this great and unexpected loss, thoughts linger with his loved ones.
