Early Sunday morning, a 27-year-old Belle Chasse resident died in a terrible motorbike accident in Metairie. The incident happened on the elevated Clearview Parkway section close to Earhart Boulevard. The preliminary Louisiana State Police report states that Cameron Blackwell was riding his motorbike northbound on the elevated area of the road when, for unknown circumstances, it unexpectedly swerved off the right side of the highway. Failing to adjust to the road’s curve, the car crashed against a guardrail and suffered a significant impact.

The rider was flung over the guardrail and dropped to the ground below the crash. Although Blackwell died at the spot, the degree of the fall resulted in fatal injuries even though he wore a helmet fulfilling DOT guidelines. Authorities are still trying to put together the events preceding the collision, so the study of the elements causing this death is continuous. Whether speed, road conditions, or other factors had a part is yet unknown.
