Dalila Gonzalez, whose sudden death on Sunday, September 29th, leaves her community and loved ones with an almost unbearable emptiness in their hearts. Dalila, just 34, is remembered for her unflinching loyalty as a Special Education Teacher in Chicago Public Schools and as a beloved member of her church, where her kindness touched many lives.
Dalila’s three-year-old son Elias and her 15-year-old boyfriend Jorge survive her. Her family is struggling with intense sadness at the unexpected nature of this loss; they now must negotiate life without her direction and presence. Never forgotten will be the legacy of kindness and dedication Dalila poured into her family, pupils, and community.
A request for help has been made to help fund funeral fees and other unanticipated obligations so honouring her memory and reducing some of the load on Jorge and Elias. Whatever the amount, GoFundMe donations would be a sincere act of solidarity at this trying period. Sharing the message is equally important if a gift is not possible since it raises awareness and guarantees the family gets the support they so much need.
We thank all those who have shown kindness and generosity; they are standing next to Jorge and Elias as they grieve the death of a dear friend, mother, and lover. Through the life Dalila touched and the encouragement she left in her memory, may the spirit of her compassion and dedication live.
