Derek Bartlett, beloved Middlebury Union High School Vermont math teacher has passed away on Saturday, September 28, he he died following an of an apparent heart attack. Bartlett was a beloved coach and great hockey advocate. According to Middlebury Union High School Vermont, “Derek Bartlett. Derek was a gifted educator, a committed coach, and a beloved friend and colleague in our school community. Our hearts are with his family.”
A group of staff members from MUHS got together to discuss ways to provide assistance to the instructors and students as they went back to school. Every member of our staff will get together first thing in the morning to become acquainted with one another and to get ready for the current day. Everyone who is a part of our community will have access to a separate area where they can make cards and engage in discourse.
Bartlett’s advisory will meet with school social workers in the afternoon, and they will also visit each of Bartlett’s classes individually. In order to provide the community with some much-needed solace, Therapy Dogs of Vermont will be there. Counsellors will be accessible to anyone who require more help, and additional counsellors and clinicians from CSAC and Mount Abraham Union High School will also be present.
The Bartlett family has requested privacy at this time. If you would like to show your care, you are welcome to bring a card to the MUHS office which they will gather and deliver on behalf of the community.
