It is with a heavy heart that Troop 399 announces the loss of a beloved member of our community. Dick Griese, our head cook, passed away early this morning, leaving a significant void in the lives of many. His absence will be keenly felt, particularly by the current scouts who have yet to experience summer camp, major trips, or canoe adventures without the vibrant energy and enthusiasm that Dick brought to camp life.
Dick was known for his infectious smile and charismatic personality, creating an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie during meal times. The many characters he portrayed added a unique level of fun that everyone eagerly anticipated, especially when Lolita made her charming appearances. His ability to connect with scouts and leaders alike made every meal not just a time to eat but an occasion to bond and create lasting memories.
As the Troop reflects on the impact Dick had on its members, it is clear that he was an integral piece of the 399 family puzzle. His contributions went far beyond the kitchen; he nurtured friendships, fostered teamwork, and instilled a love for the outdoors in the young scouts he served.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Griese family during this difficult time. Dick’s spirit and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be greatly missed, but his memory will forever be a part of Troop 399.
