John Morris was brought to Henry Ford Hospital on September 20 for stent placement procedure. Sadly, during the operation a serious complication developed and led to a large heart attack. That evening he was put on life support. He was removed off the ventilator the following Wednesday, which gave some hope even though he was still on life support during the weekend. His condition got better, and he got ready for a following phase of treatment by means of a transfer to a rehabilitation centre.

On October 2, John, however, told the nurses he was having trouble breathing, which called for quick response. CPR was given, then later that day he was once more put on life support—his second trip in two weeks. By October 4, a concerning report on his renal function surfaced that resulted in dialysis starting. Still hoping for a miracle, the family is praying for his healing.

Given these difficulties, a GoFundMe account has been started to help with family expenditures while John is in Detroit, including lodging, transportation, and meals. Given the family’s inability to work during this crisis, this is a very trying period. The flood of prayers and encouragement has been priceless.

October 4 saw a worsening of the situation. Family members hurried to the hospital after learning on a phone at 4:30 a.m. about a notable dip in blood pressure and heart rate. John stabilised briefly, then started to bleed uncontrollably. The family decided, after much thought, to stop providing care—a painful choice.

The family is especially appreciative of the love and support friends and the community have given as they get ready to bid farewell. Those wanting to honour John’s memory can donate via Cash App at $AnnaMojicaLopez or the GoFundMe. The family would much benefit from your thoughtfulness at this tough period.
