John J. “Jack” Nering, the acclaimed former superintendent whose name graces J. J. Nering Catholic Elementary School, is leaked. Following a brief cancer battle, Jack, at 92, died quietly in Calgary under hospice care on October 2, 2024. Surrounded by the affection and warmth that distinguished his long and significant life, his last weeks were spent in the consoling company of grandchildren and children.
Jack’s commitment to education and community service made a lasting impression on the Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools; the honour of having a school bearing his name was a great delight of his life. Many students, employees, and families as well as his impact will inspire next generations. His contributions influenced their life.
