Multiple police presence were at the Motherwell on Saturday, evening. According to reports, one person was slashed at the bus stops outside the train station . The extent of the injures that the victim suffered are unknown at the time of this publication. It is also if any arrest was made.
This is a developing story. On other news; after asking a passing motorist, “Will you grass me in if I stab him?” a thug proceeded to stab a person who was completely unknown to him. Anthony Sweeney, who was 24 years old at the time, was sentenced to twenty months in prison for the “appalling” incident that took place outside of the Asda store located on Watson Street in Motherwell.
On April 14, when he was out on bail for another case, he admitted to stabbing a man, causing him to sustain severe injuries. In order to treat the wound on his back, the victim required stitches.
According to the information presented before the Hamilton Sheriff Court, Sweeney approached the man, who was unfamiliar with him, outside the business around 7:15 p.m. and they had a brief conversation. Chloe O’Hara, who is in charge of the prosecution, stated that witnesses were parked near the ‘click and collect’ area of Asda.
In order to provide assistance to the sufferer, staff members arrived promptly. On the scene, there was a significant amount of blood. The accused had fled the scene, but surveillance footage from a neighbouring location showed him throwing away a lockback knife in a trash can.
At the time of his arrest, Sweeney stated to the law enforcement officers that he “couldn’t remember” the stabbing. Susan Gibson, a defence attorney, stated that her client is originally from Possilpark, but that they were living with relatives in Motherwell at the time.
Due to Sweeney’s guilty plea and the fact that he has been in detention since April, the sentence was reduced from thirty months to twenty months although it was originally thirty months.
