An 85-year-old man lost his life in a vehicle collision in Westwood on Friday 27 Sep. 2024 according to the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office. Located at the crossroads of Boudinot and Queen City Avenues, the dead, Robert Czerwinski, passed away from injuries on the scene. Currently looking into the event, Cincinnati law enforcement officers said they were sent to the intersection about at 9:30 a.m.
Arriving officers found that a 17-year-old man driving a 2018 Ford Focus was heading northbound on Boudinot while a 46-year-old man running a 2016 Toyota Camry was eastbound on Queen City Avenue. Based on preliminary results, the younger motorist apparently ran a red light and collided with the Toyota at the crosswalk. The effect sent the Toyota off track and into collision with the Ahadu Market building at 3098 Queen City Avenue.
Both the Toyota operator and the juvenile driver suffered injuries judged non-life-threatening and were sent to UC Medical Centre for treatment. Sadly, attending medical staff declared a backseat passenger of the Toyota dead at the site.
Though it’s unclear whether the rearseat passenger was similarly secured, investigators noticed that the Toyota’s driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. Not one Ford occupant was apparently sporting a seatbelt.
The Traffic Unit of the Cincinnati Police Department is aggressively looking for more information and has asked any witnesses to come forward to support the continuous inquiry.
