On September 28, 2024, Shawn O’Leary, who resided in Avondale and was sixty years old, passed away. He left behind a legacy that was characterised by his steadfast commitment to his loved ones, his generosity, and his strength. His parents John Sr. and Helen O’Leary preceded him in death.
Along with his mother, Rhonda O’Leary, Shawn is survived by his cherished daughters, Shaunna (Murray Corbett) and Hannah (Riley Kenny). Being a grandfather to his beloved granddaughters Kaylee, Kaia, and Eli made him quite proud.
Shawn is also loved by his brothers, Junnie (Kym), Dwayne (Debbie), Clyde (Brenda), and Dale (Pauline; his sister-in-law, Joanne McCarthy; dear cousins, Jim and Wayne; his uncle, Kevin Parsley; Erin Matthews; and many nieces, nephews, colleagues, and friends. He was a quiet strength and compassion figure since everyone around him was moved by his careful character and giving of soul.
Shawn was a committed tradesperson who belonged to both Boilermakers Local 203 and Iron Workers Local 764. In his field, his high regard and adoration came from his passion for his trade as well as from his strong work ethic and technical ability. Renowned for his loyalty and readiness to offer a helping hand, he was a consistent mentor and friend.
Tuesday, October 1, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., the family will welcome guests at Dunphy’s Funeral Home, Holyrood. Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., Assumption Catholic Church, Avondale, will host a Mass of Christian Burial with cremation after. Assumption Cemetery, Avondale has the inurnment ceremony set for Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 1:00 p.m.
